Back in June, the lovely people at Instagram HQ invited me to talk on the panel at their small business entrepreneur event. Hosted by Instagram co-founder, Mike Krieger and held at the Perseverance Works buildings in Hackney, Evermore was selected to take part alongside three other inspirational business owners that have harnessed the power of Instagram to help grow their companies. I was joined by Sophie - plant enthusiast and founder of botanical styling brand, Geo Fleur; Hugo - co-founder of luxury eyewear brand, Taylor Morris Eyewear (and of course, ex Made in Chelsea star); and Sam - co-founder of Second Shot Coffee, a socially conscious East London coffee spot that gives back to the homeless.
Upon being asked to take part, the first emotions of shock were soon replaced with pride and a sense of achievement. There are SO many small businesses and entrepreneurs doing their amazing thing in London and across the world, it was truly humbling (and mind-blowing) that my little candle business was singled out and chosen to take part.
The event celebrated the role of Instagram in providing a platform and voice for businesses that are just starting out. Without Instagram, I believe that I wouldn't have made half the business connections and collaborations that I have done today. Whether you're a candle business, food photographer, beauty blogger or just a straight-up cat enthusiast, whatever your niche, it's the strong sense of community that makes Instagram so unique, and long may it continue.
